Why did I join FSPA?

Because my personal mission statement is to: Stay safe, serve others, be better tomorrow than I am today, and be nice.

Because FSPA, in my opinion as a First Responder since 1986, is the single most important group of people in the quest to fix: Honorable but Broken: EMS in Crisis.

First Responders are in crisis.  I want to help.  I have mental health issues.  I can relate very well to other first responders.

I also provide legal defense services to first responders and I want to be as “armed with the latest fire service psychology information as possible” to zealously advocate for my first responder clients.

Lot’s of experience with the (1) direct and cross-examination of forensic psychologists and other experts, lack of capacity to commit offenses, and lack of competency to stand trial defenses; (2)  Lots of experience with substance use disorder and mental health and collaborating with licensed social workers and clinical psychologists.  And, conflict resolution too.

I have a B.S. in Psychology with a Minor in Biology from UMass-Boston (APA) and I am a member of Psi Chi, The National Honor Society in Psychology and wish I pursed a PhD in Clinical or Social Psychology.

But I wasn’t that smart so I got a JD and will live my psychologist live vicariously through FSPA.

Lastly, I am going to need first responder help probably sooner rather than later.

I really care about them.

Tell me how I can help FSPA help our firefighters.
